Hi, I'm Erika, a North East wedding photographer based in Newcastle.
I specialise in un-posed, reportage-style wedding photography. In other words pictures that tell a story: the story of your day.
Sometimes, most of the time, those pictures will be in colour. Colours that can reveal a scene both muted and elegant, or steeped in joy, or unveil the subtle play of light in any given moment.
And sometimes they will be in black and white, the colour stripped away. Images that will evoke nostalgia and a feeling of timelessness. That will bring contrast and tone, mood and emphasis to your wedding day.
Natural, Timeless Storytelling
So… how do I roll? Well, in three words my approach is: Natural. Timeless. Storytelling.
I blend into your day photographing [storytelling] as the day unfolds, allowing you to have the magical wedding you’ve been dreaming of. That’s the beginning of the ‘natural’ part, but not quite the end. The images I take, the very best images, are where you’re being yourself. When I can capture the true moments of your day. The smiles, the laughter, the joy, the fun, you know, all the cool stuff. Posed pics are great, but they aren’t where the “true gold” of photography is.
The ‘timeless’ bit is all about style. Although I admit, having a damn good photography kit helps too! My style strives for the perfect blend of composition, creativity and mood to make your images as timeless as the day itself.
After that. Some tweaking and perfecting in Photoshop and Lightroom and ta-da! Beautiful images you can cherish for a lifetime.

So, what makes me tick outside of wedding photography, huh?
In a word: horror. And that sounds terrible right, coming from a wedding photographer? But, well, I do love a good horror book! Curled up on the sofa, cuppa at hand, reading about people being ripped limb from limb by some ghoulish beast! And why stop at books I guess. I’ve revealed this much, so might as well keep going. Horror movies too. And especially the bad ones! You know the terribly acted ones where they’re just as funny as horrific.
Outside of that I love a bit of heavy metal, a touch of jazz, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. I also have a horde of friendly chickens that free range in my back garden and sneak into the house on occasion for treats.
