The Tempus at Charlton Hall Wedding Photography - Ami & Nick

Ami and Nick’s wedding was the first ever wedding held at The Tempus @ Charlton Hall so I knew I had to make it a good one. It felt really special being the first photographer for The Tempus weddings and I really wanted to create some very personal photographs for the happy couple.

The Tempus is a unique venue blending historic charm with contemporary elegance. Being brand new, The Tempus boasts beautifully designed contemporary interiors, featuring bold and vibrant decor that adds a touch of glamour to the historic architecture. With its stunning gardens and scenic views, I knew that the day was going to be nothing short of spectacular. With bubbly as wedding favours, a kickass band in the shape of Hip Operation, and Threesixty Social for entertainment and memories, how could the day be anything less than perfect?

Spoiler alert: it was pretty perfect.

Not only was it the first wedding held at the venue, but this was my first time shooting a wedding with my brand new Canon R6 . I also got to try out my fancy adapter ring, programmed to dial in the ISO without having to access menus via buttons. I kept my previous unit - the Canon 5D iv - on hand with my 70-200mm lens so that I wouldn’t have to switch lenses and potentially miss shots. Without a harness I couldn’t do it all day, but during the ceremony it was worth it. I captured a beautiful image of their daughter overcome with emotion, and it was invaluable for being able to flip between close ups of the rings and long shots of the room in seconds.

Having the brand new camera was especially helpful because Nick requested I didn’t use flash for the whole day. While I enjoy using natural light, it can be limiting, but I think I did alright as the low noise at high ISO on the R6 is excellent. I’d say the only problem I really faced was getting good shots of Guinness the dog on account of how dark her fur is, and how fast her feet. She had so much energy and bounced around the whole day, but there were a couple of points where I managed to capture her chilling in her basket. Speaking of which; I love the attention to detail that Nick and Ami put into their day: Guinness had her own place card during the meal. So cute.

The day was so much fun from start to finish. You can see from the silly poses, faces, and props that it was an excellent day. This is a small selection of the photographs celebrating Ami and Nick tying the knot:

Fabulous from start to finish.

I really can’t recommend the place highly enough, and the barman does a fantastic espresso martini!
